New Events
HELP FOR HAITI!The Senior school children in Scoil Bhreac Chluain proved that the Holy Spirit is actively working in their midst when they felt compelled to organise an event in order to raise money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Friday 29th January was designated a 'No Uniform Day' and all the children were asked to bring 2 euro to school and dress in any clothes of their choice. This event was a resounding success and the School had a 100% commitment from all the pupils for this worthwhile initiative. Congratulations to all the students involved.Your sensitivity to the plight of others who are less fortunate than us is an example to everyone!

Kerry Local Sports Partnership:A special word of thanks to Kerry Local Sports Partnership for their generous donation of 450 euro to Scoil Bhreac Chluain. This grant money was used to purchase P.E. equipment for the school such as tennis and badminton rackets, gymnastic mats and target practice soccer posts. These extra facilities have given the pupils of our school the opportunity to partake in new sporting pursuits and help maximise the facilities in our new sports hall. The grant aid recieved by KLSP is expecially timely particularly in view of the tight budgetary situation prevailing in all schools. This money certainly helps increase pupil participation in sport and helps to cultivate a culture of teamwork and healthy living. Go raibh mile maith agaibh!
Our Trip to Lee Strand
Thanks to Kevin Griffin (Rang a 1) 1st to 4th classes had a day out on Thursday April 15th 2010. Kevin entered the Lee Strand Milk “Collect 10 Mascots Competition” and received a runners-up prize. The prize was a school tour to the Lee Strand Milk plant in Tralee which included a complimentary bus trip for 52 students, a guided tour of the production process, refreshments in the boardroom and a goody bag for everyone on the tour. Our VIP for the day, Kevin, was first to meet and greet our tour guide. Teresa and the Lee Strand Mascot “Mighty Mikey Milk”. We learned that Mighty Mikey was designed by Roisín Lynch from Fenit and made in Manchester. Our trip through the factory floor was fascinating and all children were warned to keep their hands in their pockets and off the various machines and the all important milk! We saw the milk being put into the cartons and plastic bottles. A lady from the lab tested the milk every 40 minutes to ensure we only get the best when we buy a carton of Lee Strand Milk. We also saw the farmers coming to the drop off point, where a sample of their milk was taken to be tested and the rest was pumped into the factory. Each farmer has their own identification number and they deliver milk 7 days a week. In the boardroom we were treated to freshly made smoothies, Lee Strand Milk and Lee Strand Orange Juice as well as a bar of chocolate. Mighty Mikey Milk also joined us and was a huge hit with the children. We didn’t go away empty handed but were each treated to a goody bag containing a recipe card, a hightlighter, a Lee Strand Mug and a pint of milk! It was a fantastic experience and the staff of the factory were very obliging.
